Empowering Local Art and Artists

Dedicated to advancing a creative community through meaningful engagement and and cultural enrichment.

About

EVOAK! was founded in 2002 as SOA Village Housing from work that started in 1994 under the name Support Oakland Artists (SOA). SOA began as a youth development organization providing art, design, computer, and entrepreneurship training for young people as a mentoring and diversion program. The organization’s work grew to include public programming and supporting the cultural arts ecosystem through fiscal sponsorship,  technical assistance, and progressive arts policy development.

Our Mission and Vision

EVOAK! works to promote art, artists, and creative professionals through education with the goal of building strong, vibrant neighborhoods, fueling the economy,  and enriching society. Our work in partnership with other mission-aligned organizations serves to lift up communities in scalable and sustainable ways.

EVOAK! provides a range of programs and services in support of placemaking, placekeeping and advancing the creative economy.
